NHS HEALTHCHECKS

We are delighted to announce that NHS Healthchecks are now available at Woodbridge Hill Surgery. Please see the information below for more information about this beneficial check. You can book an appointment for this before receiving your invitation but you must be eligible for the check. If you are not sure if you are eligible, reception staff can confirm this for you.

If you already have one of the conditions listed below you will unfortunately be ineligible. You must also be aged 40-74.

  • Diabetes type 2
  • Heart disease
  • Kidney disease
  • Stroke
  • Dementia

What is an NHS Health Check?

The NHS Health Check is a health check-up for adults in England aged 40-74. It's designed to spot early signs of stroke, kidney disease, heart disease, type 2 diabetes or dementia. As we get older, we have a higher risk of developing one of these conditions. An NHS Health Check helps find ways to lower this risk.

How do I get an NHS Health Check?

If you're in the 40-74 age group without a pre-existing condition, you can expect to receive a letter from your GP or local authority inviting you for a free NHS Health Check every five years. In the meantime, there are other ways of getting your health checked, and you may want to try this online Heart Age test.

How can I improve my test results?

Once you've had your NHS Health Check, your healthcare professional will discuss your results with you. You'll be given advice to help you lower your risk of a stroke, kidney disease, heart disease, diabetes or dementia, and maintain or improve your health. But you don't have to wait until then to make healthy changes. Take the How Are You quiz and start now with these health apps and trackers

Advance Notice

In an effort to improve our telephone service, a new telephone system is being installed on THURSDAY 23rd NOVEMBER and FRIDAY 24th NOVEMBER. There may be some disruption during these two days and we apologise for this in advance. Any disruption will only be temporary.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO SOME OTHER SURGERIES IN THE AREA BEING UNABLE TO REGISTER NEW PATIENTS, DEMAND FOR GP APPOINTMENTS IS CURRENTLY EXCESSIVELY HIGH. OUR STAFF ARE WORKING INCREDIBLY HARD TO TRY AND ACCOMMODATE EVERYONE BUT IF YOUR APPOINTMENT IS FOR SOMETHING THAT CAN BE DEALT WITH BY ANOTHER PROFESSIONAL, PLEASE CONSIDER USING THEIR SERVICE. COMMON EXAMPLES INCLUDE COUGHS, COLDS, SORE THROATS AND OTHER MINOR ILLNESSES. THESE CAN BE TREATED BY YOUR LOCAL PHARMACY. WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL OUR PATIENTS FOR THEIR UNDERSTANDING AT THIS BUSY TIME.
