Online access update

Don't forget to request your medication and book your appointments online. We now offer web bookable appointments for blood tests (phlebotomy), INR (warfarin monitoring), smears (well woman clinics) and hypertension reviews. These should be booked only when a doctor or nurse has requested you have one of these tests or if your smear is due.

You are now also able to message your GP via this service. This can be used for simple queries, such as a medication query, checking if you need a blood test/review, results query.

New members of staff

We now have a paramedic practitioner, Jo Matthews. Jo has years of experience working in the ambulance service and has spent the last year working in GP practice. She will be undertaking home visits, triage, consultations and will be helping to look after our more frail patients.

We also have a senior pharmacist, Rachel Nilsen. Rachel has experience of working in primary care and will be responsible for various aspects of patient care such as complex medication reviews and chronic disease management.

Finally, we have a new GP, Dr Poorvie Hewa Pathiranage, who is doing one surgery a week. She is currently a partner in a practice in Borden, and will be increasing her number of surgeries later in the year. She is interested in all aspects of general practice, specialising in women's health and minor surgery. She is also involved in training junior doctors.

Ask the pharmacist!

Appointments

We have over 150 hours of wasted appointments every month. Please be considerate to other patients who are in need of an appointment and let the surgery know in good time if you are unable to attend. We appreciate that sometimes circumstances take over and that cannot be helped, however if you can let us know, we can then offer that appointment to someone else.

Please read this important information about booking your appointment online. Online appointments are not usually available with a nurse.

doctorConsultations are by appointment only and can be booked either in person or over the phone or you can register to book some appointments online.

The doctor will always see you the same day for emergency medical attention.

An urgent care surgery is available both morning and afternoon for acute problems and are booked for patients that have been telephone triaged by one of our triage nurses. The triage nurse will determine who is the most appropriate person to deal with your problem and whether it needs to be dealt with that day. Not all problems will need to be seen by a GP. Coughs, colds, sore throats and minor ailments do not need to be seen by a GP - your local pharmacist can advise a suitable treatment and discuss options with you. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE URGENT CARE SURGERY IS NOT A WALK IN SERVICE- APPOINTMENTS MUST BE BOOKED VIA THE TRIAGE SERVICE IN ORDER TO PROVIDE A HIGH STANDARD OF PATIENT CARE AND PROTECT PATIENT SAFETY. FURTHER TRIAGE INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE ON THE TRIAGE TAB AT THE TOP OF THIS PAGE.

Routine appointments are available to book with online or at the surgery.

If you have several problems you wish to discuss please tell the doctor straightaway so that they can decide which are the most important. We try to keep to time with appointments.
