Guidance for Patient Access – internet access to appointment booking, medication requests and messaging service
You need to come in to register for this service ask to register for Appointments Online. Be prepared to give some information that will identify you, e.g. last medication or postcode & telephone number. You will be given a unique username and password.
On your computer, using your internet browser and the URL provided below, go to the online access website and follow the book appointment link once you have logged in.
Using the username and password with which you have been provided.
You can now start using Patient Access!
Once logged in, you can book, view and cancel appointments, request repeat medications and also send a message to your doctor. You will also be able to view parts of your medical record.
When you book an appointment this way, you will receive confirmation immediately. There is no need to confirm it by phone or email – just make sure that you arrive promptly on the day!
Before you begin to use Patient Access we would appreciate it if you could read the following guidance regarding the booking of appointments over the internet.
This facility is for booking routine doctor appointments only, appointments for blood tests or for smear tests. Due to the nature of nurse appointments we are unable to offer all appointments online. Please ensure that you book your doctor appointments appropriately.
Please do not book appointments for the following: Nursing, Cryotherapy, Minor Surgery, Medicals, Immunisation & Vaccinations, Post Natal or Ante Natal check up including 6 week mum and baby check, Coil fitting, Implants or Injections. If you are unsure do not book on line please contact us by telephone on 01483 573194.
Please let us know if you will be unable to attend an appointment that you have booked. Either contact us by telephone to cancel or cancel it online. This will allow us to offer the appointment to another patient.
Patient Access will give you a facility to send requests for REPEAT medication to the surgery. We will still require 48 working hours to process requests. You can monitor the progress of your request via Patient Access homepage.
Patient Access now gives the facility to view and print a list of your repeat medicines or appliances and any recorded allergies or adverse reactions.
You can now message your GP with simple queries. This can be used instead of phoning us for example if you have a simple medication query, a query about any results, check if you need a review or blood test. This is a quicker way for us to respond to you.
The practice will take every measure to ensure that your Patient Access application is secure. It is your responsibility to ensure that your Patient Access account remains secure. You are able to terminate or reset your account any anytime by contacting the surgery in writing. You may wish to do this is if you think someone else knows your logging in details or if you have shared details with a family member or partner and no longer wish them to know these details.
Please note the practice does not manage the Patient Access website and therefore cannot provide help with using the Patient Access. Help screens are provided on the website.
